Summer Patterns

Lately I’ve been into drawing patterns and greenhouses. I’d love to design home accesories, t shirts, and dresses with these designs. Although summer is not my favorite season, I love the lush plants that bloom this time of year and I’m inspired by them. 💚

Mermay

Mermay has been one of my favorite drawing challenges on Instagram so far other than Inktober and Folktale Week.I have always wondered about mermaids and other mystical creatures. Deep down inside I’d love to be a mermaid for a day.

These are some of the drawings I’ve made for Mermay, originally created by artist Tom Bancroft, and I plan to continue until the end of May because it’s too fun not to.

I am trying to figure out how to continue to post on this blog and what topics my readers are interested in, using this website as a portfolio, and continuing to build my Instagram. I was thinking of creating a comic and posting it here. Let me know if that’s something you’d be interested in.

I still continue to adore makeup but can’t keep up with all the new releases nor my old posting schedule as I have three jobs at the moment. I know excuses seem lame and I am trying to consolidate it all. Thank you for contiuing to support my blog and content.

I love you all!

Las Mujeres Tienen Poder

Women’s history month inspired me to create portraits of women of color who empowered other women. All women have power and that’s what my message was in doing so. (Las mujeres tienen poder.)

Some of the commendable women I drew are Rihanna, Kathleen Lights, Yalitza Aparicio, Maya Angelou, Mother Teresa, and Frida Kahlo. I plan to do many more!

If you have any suggestions or women you’d like me to draw, let me know!

What women have inspired you?

Love you all!

More Draw This in Your Style Challenges

I did this moon girl for @asayris on IG’s #drawthisinyourstylechallenge. Hers is beyond gorgeous as were so many by amazing artists. If you haven’t checked them out, go! I learned so much about shading with this one. These are just so fun to do.

This one is for @kraken_illustration’s challenge. I love how it turned out. Under the sea scenes are so my thing too so I couldn’t resist taking on this challenge.

I love challenging myself with these. I’m hooked!

Love you guys and wish you a lovely weekend!

Draw This in Your Style Challenge

Hello!

I’ve missed you, and have been working hard on challenges you may have spotted on the gram: #drawthisinyourstyle challenge. Here are some of my favorite finished creations:

These were for @chantalhoreis’ challenge.

This was @faiha_kuntum’s challenge.

I had so much fun stretching my comfort zone with these!

Childhood Memory

As a kid I had neighbors who were almost like brothers. Their dog was a sweet, big, red haired dog, kind of like Clifford the Big Red Dog. I loved him dearly. He was the inspiration for this drawing, which I did as part of Childhood Week on Instagram. Lately, I’ve been down for any drawing challenge and I’m currently looking for my next one. I’m sad I couldn’t do all of the Childhood Week prompts but this week has been beyond chaotic for me, yet very amazing all in one.

Love you all!

Holiday in the Mouse’s House

The mouse told a holiday tale, but the fox had eaten so much, he fell asleep. The owl and the otter stayed up late, waiting anxiously for Christmas morning.

I’m thinking of creating a comic strip or illustration series for my blog. Please like the post if you like this idea.

Love you all!

💕💕🎄🎄💫💫

Sending you lots of holiday cheer.

Folktale Week Highlights

I’ve been drawing so much inspiration from Folktale week on Instagram and here are some highlights:

“Insect”

“Witch” (based on Hansel and Gretel)

“Magic” (based on the Scandinavian folktale “Saving Spring”)

“Forest”

Above is a screenshot of the prompts if you’re not familiar with them. Folktale week wasn’t nearly as popular as Inktober, but just as inspiring and fun. I’m a huge fan of folktales and children’s books and illustrations. Folktale week on Instagram and here are some highlights.

To see all of the drawings I did, including one based on Mexican and Central American folktale La Llorona, go to my Instagram; @maggieinhermoon

Love you all! What has been inspiring you lately?
