5 Ways to Make Basic Clothing Items Un-Basic

Like you, I get tired of the same basic items in my closet, yet I like to be comfy at work and need those basic items. I also would like to avoid spending my whole paycheck every week to look on-trend. Here are 5 ways to upgrade the basic items in your closet:

Bodysuit + maxi skirt

From sustainablesiren.com

Muted tones tone down the sexiness while the shilouette keeps the look feminine & sexy. Gold layered necklaces would complement the look ideally.

Delicate, beautiful, gold layered necklace from Etsy.com

Simple staple bodysuit from Americanapparel.com

Jeans (any style) & a T-Shirt + mules

Jeans will never get old, but after wearing the same pair to death, they can seem old and routine. Pair yours with a white or cheeky t-shirt and adorable pair of very fashion-forward mules.

Swap out your sneakers for mules.

A leather jacket & banging sunglasses couldn’t hurt either. Cute outfit found on Pinterest.

Jean jacket + jean dress

From Topshop

I absolutely love denim on denim and I’m a firm believer the all-American material will never get old. Even when it does, it looks sexier, and denim on denim is a chic way to re-wear the jeans items in your closet. A bright lip and chic white sneakers can keep the look tidy and prevent it from being drab.

Does Cara Delevigne keep getting prettier or…? Living for this lip color. πŸ’

Utilitarian khaki + a pop of color

Kenzo runway

I love the utilitarian khaki cropping up on SS 2017 runways. You can add a bold lip or eye look as shown here as on the Kenzo runway, or pair a trench jacket with a bold colored dress, top, or pant. A pop of color from accessories like purses or shoes would be cute if you want to keep all clothing in the khaki or olive family.

I love the offbeat cuteness of this dress. Plus, let’s save the honey bees! 😊🐝🐝🐝 Extra Tip: Keeping the dress under the jacket in the same color family keeps you from looking like a clown. πŸ˜‰ Yellow is also everywhere right now.

Sundress or slip Dress +Mesh top

You love that sundress or slip dress you’ve worn a million times, but you can’t wear it again the same way right? That’s okay. Pair a cute on-trend mesh top like the one below by Urban Outfitters under it and you have a chic look for any night out.

I hope you enjoyed this post & it gave you some summer outfit inspo.

Have a beautiful day!

The 5 Shoes That Will Get you Through the Whole Summer

fashion, shoes, Shopping, style, Summer, Travel, Uncategorized

IMAG0807_1.jpg

There’s so many shoes in this world and so little time to try and buy them all up. In the words of Carrie Bradshaw, “Men I may not know, but shoes I know.” Really I know enough about men, (sort of) and I love them, but I may love shoes just a tiny bit more. Yes, shoes won’t hug you, but they’re always there to brighten up your day when you need them. Men too..sometimes. Haha!

Anyway, with so many options today, it can be hard to decide what to buy and where to buy it. Yes, we want to spend, we have that part down, but if you’re like me, and you have to shop wisely in order to still be able to eat, you can’t buy any shoe that strikes your fancy. πŸ˜’πŸ˜¬πŸ‘›πŸ‘

To be honest, you only need 5 pairs of shoes to get you through the summer. They go with everything and they’re easy to pair up with outfits and accessories. Here are my Β top 5 picks for the summer:

  • 1. The lace up sandal, as shown above. These are by Steve Madden. I’m so in love with this sky blue color right now. I painted my nails that color and have bought so many blue things this summer. Serene and beautiful. πŸ’™ The sandal looks great paired with jeans and dresses.
  • 2. The slide sandal.

These sandals look great with literally everything. Mine are from Gap. They have an easy casual cool that’s so perfect for the summer. Here’s how I styled them:

As you can see, pink jeans, slide sandals, and flowy tops make me very happy! You can find them at gap.com. πŸ˜‰πŸ‘‘

I also love this simple and cute slide by Michael Kors & here’s how I styled those. (Digging tropical vibes right now.) 🌴 ; You can buy the sandals on Macys.com & the romper at UrbanOutfitters.com.

  • 3. The espadrille. These cuties are by Sam Edelman. Funny, comfy, and adorbs. What more do you want? Espadrilles in every color? Me too. 🌈 You can buy these at shoebuy.com.

  • 4. The espadrille sandal. Seafoam sandal and all accoutrements by Urban Outfitters.

I love this pretty seafoam green color. Gorgeous and so summery.

5. Vans Authentic Low.

Nintendo is a throwback to my childhood and Vans are a throwback to my high school days, not to mention being forever cool. Pefect with shorts and a t shirt.

Loving the simplicity of this look. California through and through.

Cute & whimsical. πŸ˜€πŸ’œ

So those are my 5 summer shoe picks. Is my list different than yours? If course there’s always room for more…πŸ˜‰
