Style Crush Sunday; The Inimitable Audrey Hepburn

Dressy, fashion, style, Styleicon, Uncategorized, vintage

Nobody will ever have the same grace, poise, and innate stylishness as Audrey Hepburn. She’s a style icon for many reasons. Here’s the top 3 reasons I think why, even though I really could go on and on;

  • She basically invented gamine style and charm.Β What does gamine mean? According to WikiHow; “since the time of Audrey Hepburn (the original gamine), it has been used to describe a slim, boyish, doe eyed girl with mischievous and innocent childlike appeal.” Lovely and adorable; the loveliest funny face pretty much. πŸ˜‰β€
  • She was sexy without trying. She didn’t need to vamp it up to convey sex appeal. She was just naturally beautiful and knew how to highlight her best features, even though she didn’t have the typical curvy body that was considered most coveted at the time she considered one of Hollywod’s leading ladies.

  • Her style will never go out of style. Her staples; striped shirts, turtleneck sweaters, midi skirts, ankle pants, flats, loafers, and the color black literally look good all the time, on everybody.

Audrey, I love you. I will forever have a style crush on you!

IMG_20160515_204659We were asked to fill in tonight at Bar 20 in Hollywood & we were happy to be there. This was probably our 5th or 6th time there and each time we go we feel like we’re received into a warm and welcoming environment, yet each time is an experience all it’s own too. This time we met some very nice and funny British people who were musing about the rudeness of the people they’ve encountered so far in LA. I told them it’s a definite thing that there are tons of superficial people in LA but to keep looking for the good stuff because its out there too, in any place. We agreed.

I’m happy to be a part of a band that performs with a good degree of regularity in LA, which is a tough but to crack to say the least.

The image above is the poster I made on the fly for tonight. I’ve been making posters since we started playing together about 3 1/2 years ago and it’s been fun to challenge myself with that as an art form. I’ll have to post older posters soon.

I did my makeup in the car as usual and Chris chose my outfit. Details on the makeup are on my Instagram & facebook page if you’re interested:
