More Draw This in Your Style Challenges

I did this moon girl for @asayris on IG’s #drawthisinyourstylechallenge. Hers is beyond gorgeous as were so many by amazing artists. If you haven’t checked them out, go! I learned so much about shading with this one. These are just so fun to do.

This one is for @kraken_illustration’s challenge. I love how it turned out. Under the sea scenes are so my thing too so I couldn’t resist taking on this challenge.

I love challenging myself with these. I’m hooked!

Love you guys and wish you a lovely weekend!

Folktale Week Highlights

I’ve been drawing so much inspiration from Folktale week on Instagram and here are some highlights:

“Insect”

“Witch” (based on Hansel and Gretel)

“Magic” (based on the Scandinavian folktale “Saving Spring”)

“Forest”

Above is a screenshot of the prompts if you’re not familiar with them. Folktale week wasn’t nearly as popular as Inktober, but just as inspiring and fun. I’m a huge fan of folktales and children’s books and illustrations. Folktale week on Instagram and here are some highlights.

To see all of the drawings I did, including one based on Mexican and Central American folktale La Llorona, go to my Instagram; @maggieinhermoon

Love you all! What has been inspiring you lately?

Inktober Highlights

One reason I’ve been a bit MIA from my blog is because I’ve been doing Inktober this year! I have longingly looked at the amazing drawings for a few years thinking I should’ve done it, so this year I did. Here are some highlights in no particular order:

“Prickly”

“Breakable”

“Star”

(I didn’t follow a prompt on this one; It was posted on John Lennon’s birthday)

“Swollen”

These are some of my favorites. I’ve honestly had so much fun with the challenge of Inktober and the drawing itself, although it certainly was difficult getting them done every day. I’m going to miss you Inktober!!

I’ll be posting more highlights and the best drawings on my illustrations page.

Love and light to you all!

Easy Ways to Wear Three Cute Fall Runway 2018 Trends

There are some seasons you love more than others. It may be your preference in weather or foods or maybe even a connection to a special holiday or your birthday. In my case, a major reason I like fall the best is because I like fall and winter fashion better than spring and summer fashion. I love layers, I love warm tones and rich jeweled tones, and I feel like the clothes is more flattering on me. Overall, I simply feel more comfortable in fall outfits like a turtleneck sweater, jeans, and over the knee boots, over summer outfits such as skimpy rompers. Maybe it’s because I don’t love the constant shaving that takes over my summer. (If you don’t shave, power to you, but I feel the need to be bare when rocking leg baring clothing.)

Here are my three favorite Fall 2018 trends and three easy ways to wear them!

Patchwork

The entire Christian Dior Fall 2018 runway show, mainly because of the 60s and 70s influences and patchwork. I am forever into those vibes.

If you’re feeling bold enough, go ahead and don a patchwork denim dress this fall with adorable motorcycle boots for a night out.

If you want an easy way to incorporate a cute patchwork element to your daily wardrobe, pairing a patchwork skirt with a crisp white shirt is an easy option as seen below on Zoey Deutch, below.

This is an outfit I will definitely be copying and wearing on repeat.

Colored Lenses

Again, this is a look I’d wear on repeat. I absolutely love colored lenses and have for a while. I’m very into pink and yellow lenses in particular. I feel like they frame my face well and it’s an interesting departure from your typical lens. These are a few of my favorite above. The simplest way to wear this look would be with either casual attire or a going out outfit. This would be so cute paired with an either all neutral or all black outfit too. It feels like a new, fresh, and super cute way to incorporate color into an otherwise plain and classic fall outfit. Here is an easy and adorable way to wear colored lenses as seen on the blog Takeaim.nu:

Corduroy

Corduroy is a fall classic and I never get sick of seeing it, velvet, and other textured fabrics on the runway. I’m into it.

I love pairing corduroy dresses and skirts with black turtlenecks and tights with boots. Pairing a zippered dress with a short sleeved shirt underneath as seen on the model below, is giving me 90s nostalgia and I’m loving the vibe. I’m totally copying that look.

I hope you’re having fun piecing together your Fall 2018 wardrobe! Are you wearing a lot of the same pieces from last year? Are you buying a whole new wardrobe? Any thoughts on runway trends this year? Some sure were too much on the odd side of the fashion spectrum for me while others were totally me.

Love and light to you all!
