Feliz Dia de Los Muertos

&Tradition, Culture, Dia de los muertos, Fall, Halloween, Makeup, Uncategorized

Happy Day of the Dead! In Mexico, November 1st is a day in which loved ones who have passed away are commemorated. My Mom is from Mexico and I always thought the sugar skulls and figurines were cute and the decorations and festivities were beautiful. I think remembering our loved ones is a wonderful idea and I had so much fun doing the sugar skull makeup above.

I tried twice, and would like to keep trying, jusy because I think the more practice you have, the better the makeup will turn out. I don’t think it would ve socially acceptable if I walk around like this on a daily basis. So instead, I’m practicing more wearable daily looks right now.

This was my first attempt. Honestly, this look is so easy! I know it doesn’t seem like it, and I’m not going to lie, you need at least 45 mins – 1 hr, but thr actual application is very doable. Here’s what I used;

  • Wet n Wild’s Halloween Fantasy Makers Painter’s Palette in Mesmerizing Mermaid

  • Italia Matte Waterproof Black liquid eyeliner. (Any liquid eyeliner of this type will do).
  • Elf artistry palette

I know a lot of bloggers & vloggers have dissed this palette, and it’s not the best I’ve ever tried, but for the price, and forΒ this look and a lot of simple everyday looks, it works.

  • Elf’s blush brush, crease brush, eyeshadow brush, and one that came wih their Artistry Palette.
  • Wet n Wild’s MegaSlicks Balm Stain in A Stiff Pink (only used in second look; first pic)
  • Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Best Red (only used in 1st look; pic below)
  • Flower headband by Sidecca

I went for a creepier vibe for the first one, or at least I tried. πŸ’€πŸ‘»

Start by applying foundation and concealer as you normally would. I used Physicians Formula BB cream as a moisturizer, Elf’s Under Eye Concealer and Highlighter, and NYX’s Matte Not Flat foundation. Then, begin pouncing the white grease paint into your skin and apply until you have an allover ghostly shade.

Next, apply concealer on your eyes as primer. I really like the white side of Elf’s Under Eye Concealer and Highlighter for this, as well as to highlight any other white part of your face.

Next, outline your hollow skull eyes witb the eyeliner. Use your eyebrow as a guide and draw a straight line from the inner part of the brow towards the inner corner of the eye. Do the same on the outer part dragging the line out as you normally would with a wing, except connect it to your brow. Next, fill in the entire lid and shape you made with the black face paint. Go over it with a black eyeshadow. I used the shimmery one in the Artistry Palette, but any will do.

Proceed by contouring as you normally would with a creamy contouring makeup or bronzer, except use black, grey, or purple, as shown above by Brianna Fox. Check out her channel! The goal is to provide shading under your cheekbones, around your forehead, and anywhere else you think a skull would be hollow.

Dulce Candy’s makeup, inspired by the character La Muerte in The Book of Life movie, also features purple contouring. Check her out too, if you haven’t already! She’s amazing.

Outline your lips and extend the line of the outer corners to create a sinister smile. You can exaggerate your lips as I did as well, for a more impactful effect. Fill in your lips with the black face paint. You can use a black lipstick if you you have one. I applied the black shimmery eyeshadow on top for a matte effect. Add teeth along the smile by drawing lines. 3-4 will do.

Then, add floral designs for the finishing touch, anywhere you want. Pinterest Β has so much inspo for this part.

Obviously the ladies whose makeup I showed above, outdid me, but I’m not a make up artist, I just love makeup, dressing up for Halloween, and having fun. You can take your look as far as you want. I did mine for a party and for handing out candy. I also was in a rush on both occasions.

Love you all and hope you had a safe and amazing Halloween! πŸŽƒπŸ’€πŸ‘»πŸ

Feliz Dia de loa Muertos! 🌹🌹🌹

Current Obsession; Celestial Dress + Metallics

Date, Dress, Dresses, Dressy, Fall, fashion, Party, style, Uncategorized

As soon as I set eyes on this velvet sun/moon bedazzled dress, I knew it was me. I’ve been into astronomy, astrology / self discovery forever. Even though I know there is no factual evidence backing astrology, I am living proof that it has some logic behind it as I am a textbook Aquarius. β™’πŸŒœπŸŒŒ

Dress us by Urban Outfitters. Obsessed. 🌜🌞

I feel like this would be the perfect party dress for a fall wedding or night out. I’ve honestly never been a bling kinda girl, but I’m digging the star/astronomy theme and trying sonething new.

Found on Pinterest.

I’m really into metallics this fall in fashion and beauty. I love the drippy metallic lip look like the one above, popularized and perfected by Pat McGrath and executed beautifully by makeup vlogger Sarahii on her channel IluvSarahii for her Halloween Cleopatra look; https://www.instagram.com/p/BLZyCwrj4vr/

Would you be daring enough to try this lip makeup for an everyday going out look? I think I might Β πŸ˜‰βœ¨πŸ’«πŸ’„

I absolutely love the look above from head to toe.

What’s your favorite metallic color? Gold, silver, bronze?

My 10 Fall/Winter Travel Essentials

Bomber jacket, Boots, Fall, fashion, shoes, Shopping, Travel

I’m so ready for a trip somewhere with trees that actually shed during the fall and that has a real winter with snow.

This is what fall looks like in my imagination when I’m daydreaming of traveling. Pic found on http://www.destination360.com.

I guess it’s a result of living in Southern Β California my whole life. I’m thinking Big Bear, and since my bf and I are planning a trip there, I thought it’d be the perfect time to put together a f/w trip essentials post. So here are my must haves for traveling somewhere chilly in the autumn and/or winter;

As you can see, I am very excited for my trip and for an excuse to shop. πŸ˜πŸ‚πŸŒ²πŸ‘’

  • 1. Turtleneck / chunky sweaters. You can’t go wrong with a comfy chunky-knit turtleneck. Plus I adore this dusty rose color. It’ll keep you warm when you’re out and about roaming around town and through all of your adventures. This one is from Forever 21.

  • 2. Corduroys. The ones above are also from Forever 21. I love this pine green color. They’re stretchy and comfy yet super flattering and cute.

Photo from Levis.com

I love all of Levi’s corduroys. Comfy, cute, and flattering. πŸ‘Œ

  • 3. An anti-theft backpack. The last things you want to be thinking about are losing your things or having them stolen. Not only is it heartbreaking, but it would seriously ruin your whole trip. The Travelon anti-theft backpack is top-rated and is versatile/small enough to not be a hindrance when walking around.

Pic from Amazon.com

I’ve been into corduroy in general lately…a lot. The velvet top is by Lucky Brand & the skirt is by Celebrity Pink..$11!

  • Β 4. (faux) Leather jacket. I am obsessed with the one above by Free People. It’s a little pricey but durable and well made. This jacket goes with literally everything and makes any outfit instantly cuter.
  • 5. Scarf. I am a huge scarf fanatic. You should see my closet.

This one above is from Urban Outfitters. They have some of my fave & most versatile scarves in my opinion.

This adorable chunky one is from Forever 21. Throw a scarf over almost anything and add an air of chicness plus an extra layer of warmth.

  • 6. Comfy shoes. These are an absolute necessity for walking around and taking in all the sights while not hurting your feet.

Picture found on http://www.otrendy.ma

I am in love with Rhianna’s Fenty line. They’re the perfect walking around shoe for traveling since they’re comfy yet fashionable. I want them in every color.

  • IMAG2408.jpg
  • 7. Booties. These are from…you guessed it, Forever 21. They’re the perfect shade of tan and height and I love how they go with everything.
  • res_1476169737491.jpg8. Little black dress. The one above is also from Forever 21 (sorry they have too many cute things!!) and has a mock turtleneck and long sleeves so it’s perfect for fall/winter.Β I think this would be a perfect date night look.

9. Mini versions of your fave beauty products. (Shampoo, toothpaste, foundation, perfume, etc) They’re just easier to travel with. My top 3 are Johnson & Johnson’s shampoo, Physician’s Formula BB Cream, & NYX Lip Lingerie in Teddy, which isn’t mini but would fit in your purse.

This is the best BB Cream I’ve tried so far. The coverage is great, yet it’s light and moisturizing.

10. An open mind and heart. Honestly, the best things to have when traveling aren’t things. They’re the people you love and who you’re traveling with and the willingness to have a good time and overlook the jet lag and small details that didn’t go your way. There are no perfect trips, and of course you want everything to go as planned after spending your hard-earned money but, oftentimes, spontaneity can be a good thing. πŸ˜‰

That concludes my post. I hope you enjoyed it! Maybe it helped you a bit with your upcoming trip! Happy travels! πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•

Wednesday Addams OOTD for Wednesday

Date, Dress, Fall, Halloween, Uncategorized

I’ll never get over a simple black and white OOTD, peter pan collars, or bold lips for fall. Right now, I’m getting some strong Wednesday Addams vibes from my makeup & fashion choices, but I ain’t mad at it. In fact, I’m loving Wednesday’s simple aesthetic. I’ve been her for Halloween before, and wore a peter pan collar dress my Mom actually made fo me. (Pretty awesome)

Not going to lie, I’ve been on the lookout for Wednesday-esque peter pan collar dresses for ever!

Beaded clutch from Forever 21 ($2!!) & dress found at Sidecca

I think I snatched the perfect one. πŸ˜‰

So have you decided what to dress up as for Halloween this year?

Vintage Halloween Vibes

Dress, Fall, Halloween, Party, Uncategorized

I’m feeling 50s silhouttes of late, since they’re flattering no matter what. Whether you feel bloated or fabulous, this shape always makes you feel instantly cuter. I also love halloween, and all the happy memories that go along with it, and started brainstorming what to wear to upcoming festivities!

I’m a huge fan of vintage costumes, vintage halloween cards, vintage beauty, etc. I love the old aesthetic that women could be subtle and have curves and be attractive. These pin ups are just too adorable.

Found at Sidecca

This dress is kitschy in a cute way. Perfect for halloween at Disneyland or Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas Live to Film at the Hollywood Bowl. I want to do both if my bank account can swing it.

Image found on grayflannelsuit.net

I love halloween themed pinups and how much fun people used to have with their costumes, as well as how much creativity went into it since Party City and Amazon didn’t exist.

1800s costumes found via Pinterest.

Some costumes as these above from the 1800s, were actually kind of strange but interesting. Not sure what kind of vibe these ladies were going for.

Creepy headless horsemen costumes for kids also found on Pinterest

Some like these above, actually succeeded at being creepy. Extra points for creativity!

Kitschy halloween themed poodle skirts and dresses were definitely a trend in the 50s. I find this trend extra cute. I say we bring it back.
It seems most costumes sold today are either really slutty or really scary. Maybe it’s the fun to being slutty or scary once a year. As long as it’s not every day. Well maybe for some. I always leaned towards homemade costumes, thrift store finds, and elaborate makeup. Anyway, have fun this year! I know I will. πŸ˜‰

Current Obsession & Trend; Velvet

Date, Fall, nyfw, Uncategorized

At the moment, velvet is all over NYFW, NYFW street style, footwear, clutches, everything. Honestly, I’m loving it. It’s got such a luxe cool-girl vibe, that it just lends to every outfit. I personally see it as more of a fall/winter fabric than a spring/summer one. You’ll be seeing more of it for sure as the cooler months approach, and as the trend gains steam.

This adorable romper is from Urban Outfitters, as is the one below. So is the comfy chunky-knit sweater. My lipstick is NYX lip lingerie in Teddy. I think I wore it every day this week.Β

This season, taupe, rust, and burgundy are becoming my go to colors, which is pretty classic for fall/winter, and typical for me. Stepping a small bit out of my comfort zone in the vampy romper.

This beaded clutch is by Forever 21 & the initial rings are from Sidecca.

Velvet definitely saw its heyday in the 90s, but I’m pretty sure it’s making a comeback, which Β is fine by me.

Summer to Fall Transition OOTD

Boho, Design, Fall, fashion, Retro, Shopping, Skirts, style

I seriously doubt I’ll ever get over this outfit. It’s me & my love for fall in a nutshell. I paricularly love the transition between the two seasons. I love the promise of what’s to come..and I love mini skirts, kimonos, bodysuits, and warm fall colors in case you haven’t noticed. 🍁

Loving those sixties bell sleeves right now, and always really.

Seriously my fave fall colors. You can never go wrong with rust, olive, & mustard. Plus, the fact that the kimono is lightweight & this is a mini skirt makes it a good transition outfit. If youΒ live somewhere where it’s colder you could totally swap out the bodysuit for a turtleneck & add tights.

I may never get over this outfit. I’ll be living in these staples this season.

Peace loves,

Thanks so much for reading! πŸ˜ŠβœŒπŸ’•

3 Ways to Wear a Bodysuit

Career wear, Date, Denim, Dress, Dressy, Fall, fashion, Fashion design, style, Uncategorized

Lately I’ve been obsessed with bodysuits and the only thing that can cure this addiction is buying more. What is it about them that’s so flattering and makes you feel sexy? Not sure but I’m digging it. You can wear them a million ways and here are three ways I styled the black one by BCBG shown above.

1. With high waisted jeans

These super comfy and cute ones are by Calvin Klein. They’re one of the best pairs I’ve found so far for sure. I love this look and it feels like something a supermodel like Kate Moss or all around It girl like Brooke Shields would’ve worn in the 90s. In terms of my hunt for the perfect jeans..they’re up there in the top 3.

I also absolutely love the black and white theme and this long Calvin Klein vest thrown over the top of this.

2. With white dress pants, especially black or nude bodysuits.

I really love this look for date night or for a dinner party, wedding, etc. It would even be fine for work with a blazer over it. These super sleek dress pants are by Vince Camuto.

3. Β With a flirty skirtskirt, as shown above. This one is by the Marilyn Monroe clothing brand found at Macy’s.

Love this look for a date or girls’ night out. So there are my fave three ways to wear this bodysuit, and I’m already coming up with more. Can’t wait to wear bodysuits in the fall with cute jackets. To be continued!

Love you guys!

Thanks for reading!

Back to School/Fall Inspired Outfits

Bomber jacket, fashion, Shopping, Skirts, style, Uncategorized

As you can imagine, my favorite part of going back to school was always shopping for all the new clothes and shoes! The most important thing of course, was always what to wear on the first day back. The biggest question was “What first impression am I going to make?”

Of course, now that I’m done with high school, I’m so happy I don’t have to trouble myself with what my peers think, and honestly, I always pretty much did my own thing anyway. During college, fashion was less of a thing, as it was hard enough getting to class on time, passing exams, writing 5 page essay, after essay, etc. It was always a thing for me, but I was more concerned at that point with passing all of my classes since I didn’t have anyone to impress on campus.

I graduated last year, and all I can say is I am so happy to have total fashion freedom. I can wear whatever I want whenever I want. Except at work. I have to wear mostly all black. That being said, it was fun to create a fall/back to school inspired looks to serve as inspiration for you guys. If I was going back to school, I would totally wear these outfits.

I combined some of ny favorite trends for this fall; bomber jackets, corduroy, baseball caps, and bodysuits. Β I also kind of wanted to make it youthful, fun, and flirty. So here’s what I came up with;

Outfit 1

I’m so into this outfit. Everything is by Forever 21 to stay within the realm of where teens/college kids actually shop. This bomber is so dope imo and I love the 90s/bad girl vibed I’m getting from it

Outfit 2

I absolutely love this color scheme. Olive and emerald have always been some of my fave colors for fall.

That concludes my back to school/fall outfit post. I hope you enjoyed reading it as much qas I enjoyed writing it. 😊
