Top 5 Summer Beauty Products

bblogger, beauty, beauty routine, Makeup, Makeup Review, Uncategorized

Hello my friends! I’ve missed you. As you can see by my latest posts, I’ve been pursuing my art/graphic design goals intensely. I’m still a hardcore makeup lover, and buy just as much makeup as ever, so I thought I’d chat with you about my favorite products for the summer. It’s hard to find products that withstand the summer heat in LA. Here are some that can do no wrong:

Stila Colour Balm Lipstick

I absolutely adore this lipstick. It’s extemeley creamy and pigmented. It is way more pigmented than a typical balm. It also has a nice minty feel and smell. The color is perfect for summer and I always get compliments on it. Although it needs to be reapplied throughout the day, I don’t mind because I can’t do super matte during the summer.

Flower Beauty Light Illusion Foundation

This foundation is always a win for me. Although I have oily skin, it stands the test of time, especially under a mattifying or pore blurring primer. It never makes me look greasy or cakey. I love it through and through. It gives the skin a natural, fresh, healthy glow, yet the coverage is amazing. I don’t want to feel like I’m wearing a pound of makeup in the summer and this gives me a comfortable feeling. 10 out of 10 for me.

Catrice Prime & Fine Mattifying Waterproof Powder

I’ve never tested the waterproof aspects of this powder but I can guarantee that the blurring and mattifying effects are absolutely there. The powder gives you a gorgeous airbrushed look and makes your entire look blurred out and velvety. I love wearing it over the Light Illusion foundation. For the summer in LA, this is just what I need.

Wet and Wild Color Icon Bronzer in Sunset Striptease

You already knew I was going to throw some Wet and Wild in there right? How can I not? They just keep killing it and what can I say? I’m a loyal beech. I absolutely am obsessed with this bronzer. It’s so easy to use. You can contour and bronze with it and it gives the face such a nice summery glow without looking too orange or muddy. I am no bronzer or contouring expert by any means so if I can do it, so can you. Love it.

Your Good Skin Antioxidant Day Cream with SPF 30

With the scorching rays in LA, you NEED an SPF and sun protection. Don’t leave your house without a cute hat if you’re going to be out and about. I’m serious. (Unless you want to look aged) This moisturizer is exactly what I’m looking for in terms of hydration and sun protection. It is a nice two in one and jam packed with good for skin ingredients. I already need a new one.

By the way, all of these products have stellar reviews so yay you can trust them. Love you all! ❤⚡

What are your must have summer products? Leave them in the comments.

Hope you’re having an amazing day

Twinkling Lights Collection by Kathleen Lights x Colourpop Review

bblogger, beauty, ColourPop, Kathleen lights, Makeup, Makeup Review, Uncategorized

Due to Afterpay, which is amazing, I predict a lot of new Colourpop in my future, and I’m totally okay with it. It is also available at some of my other faves like Free People and Forever 21, which could be a good or bad thing. Basically you get to pay your total in four payments interest free. No this is not sponsored. When I heard of Twinkling Lights and the dawn of Colourpop introducing Afterpay, I was too excited.

Some people were complaining about being bored with Colourpop collabing with the same people all the time, but I honestly don’t care. I love Kathleen Lights and Colourpop, and that’s not going to change because Colourpop collabs with her frequently. Yes, you may have similar products, but I found some gems you most likely don’t have, and honestly, how can you not like Super Shock Shadows and Colourpop lippies?

My standout favorites are the shadow in the shade Vela and the lippie in the shade Little Star.

Vela is an incredibly unique shade and I’m obsessed.

It has a peachy brown base and a beautiful purple-y pink iridescence. It’s described as a “light saddle brown with pink violet duochrome flip” on Colourpop.com.

I’ve never seen or owned any shadow like it. It’s definitely my favorite item in the collection.

The other shadows are gorgeous however. Glisten and Light Up are similar to other shades I own, but of course the formula is my favorite hands down of any brand, so I’m always stoked to have more, and these are good staple everyday shades. Blitzen is unique and gorgeous. It is a pinkish red with pink glitters throughout, perfect for the holiday or a bold red going out look. I love the shade.

My second favorite item in the collection is the lipstick Little Star. It is described as a “rusty warm brown“. I’m a huge fan of brown lipstick. It’s probably because I’m a 90s girl at heart, but I think they’re so cute and flattering and wear them every opportunity I get during fall and winter.

This collection definitely has something for everyone, and both neutral and everyday lips and glam lips are possible with the kit. I got the entire collection and I have used it for both going out and for work.

The most unique lippie is definitely Night Light. It is a “metallic bronze drenched with gold and hot pink glitter” Ultra Glossy Lip. I’m not the biggest metallic lip wearer, but I’m into anything glitter, and I love this for a night when you want to look glam without trying much. Throw this on with some lashes and something in your crease and your good to go.

All in all, as you probably guessed it, I’m a fan. If you’re thinking of getting the collection but aren’t sure, get what you most likely will use and are excited about. Your coin will not be wasted, believe me.

Love you all!! Happy new year!

I’m wishing you loads of love and life!

The Sweet Smell of Christmas Liquefied Lipstick Holiday Set by Too Faced Review

bblogger, beauty, Makeup, Makeup Review, review, Uncategorized

So I caved and bought myself not one but many things on my holiday wish list. What can I say? There’s something about holiday makeup that makes me so cheery and filled with joy.

Sweet Smell of Christmas by Too Faced. $25 at Sephora and elsewhere.

The colors in the Too Faced Sweet Smell of Christmas Liquefied Lipstick set are all tones I wear on the regular anyhow, and also if I wait for someone to figure out what I want… most likely won’t happen.

Too Faced Melted Matte in Gingerbread Man

Enough excuses for my shopping habit, and here’s my thoughts on the set;

I adore the smell. It’s sweet and reminiscent of freshly baked sugar cookies without being overly potent or sickly. It lingers on the lips but eventually fades. Gingerbread Man is definitely my favorite shade from the set and it doesn’t appear as orange is it does on the models above and below on me; it pulls more brown . I have warm light skin for reference.

The shades are true to color and last a long time on the lips. As far as how drying they are, I think that depends on whether or not you wear lip balm underneath and whether your lips are naturally dry to begin with, which mine absolutely are.

I’ve shyed away from matte lippies in the past for this reason but I’m recently liking Ulta’s moisturizing lipstick primer and CO Bigelow Mentha Lip Shine. If you want a gloss free pout then I recommend Ulta’s lip primer, plus it’s got a nice coconutty scent. The Mentha Lip Shine is a bit more hydrating though and is a breath freshener. Both are great.

What goodies have you gifted yourself?

Much love and light sent your way!!

Fall Glam with Dollar Store Eyeshadow Palette

beauty, beauty routine, Makeup, Makeup Review, Tutorial, Uncategorized

Going to the dollar store and trying to buy makeup for a look is like going on a treasure hunt, except is like a corn maze through a dump of random forgotten or overstocked cosmetics. To me, this is a fun proposition, though I can understand why many would think otherwise.

I’ve been wanting to try the brand Profusion from Target after hearing many beauty lovers and gurus rave about certain products. I have also seen Profusion products at TJ Maxx, Burlington Coat Factory, and Marshalls, but have always decided to skip it, not being very impressed by the packaging or look of the products. When I saw a whole display of Profusion at my local 99 Cents store recently, I thought why not?

Somehow, they had their entire holiday 2017 collection of eyeshadow palettes. If you feel iffy about using old makeup, I don’t blame you. I took a chance and haven’t seen any weird reaction from my skin to the product. Apparently they didn’t sell very well in my area. I’m totally not mad about the look I created with the palette I picked up, as I loved most of the shades. Unfortunately, these palettes aren’t in stock anywhere else, so if you want to try it, I highly suggest Profusion’s other paletts, like their popular Siennas palette.

Interestingly, some shades were amazing while others were disappointing. I’ve quickly become addicted to the first shade in the palette, a neutral toned champagne shimmer. I thought the palette and the shades looked pretty boring at first, and only got it because I wanted to see what look I could come up with using dollar store makeup. I actually loved the look I am wearing in this post and used only dollar store and drugstore makeup!

On my lids is the Glitter Goals Liquid Eyeshadow by NYX in Multiverse, which in my opinion is practically a dupe for the Stila Glitter and Glow eyeshadows. The shade I got is a smoky brown taupe and how cool is the name by the way? I’m a sucker for anything space related.

Image found on Musingsofamuse.com

The other shades are: Polished Pin Up (a gold beige), Imaginarium (a charcoal), and Poppy Fields (reddish cranberry). (From top to bottom)

I can’t wait to try the other shades as I found Multiverse to be extremely creamy, pigmented, and opaque and only needed two coats to reach a desired level of glitter on the lids.

The Emily Edit Palette Review and Everyday Fall Tutorial

Though I hadn’t heard about Emily Noel until recently, I was absolutely thrilled to be able to support her launch with Makeup Revolution! I found out about her and her channel through other Youtubers and my heart was filled with warmth and fuzziness when I heard her story. She is definitely an OG beauty Youtuber in every sense of the term.

The Needs Palette by Emily Noel X Makeup Revolution. $15 at Ulta.

She began her channel whilst working as a news anchor and it has evidently evolved alongside her life. Her passion and dedication to beauty and her channel are evident and her humility and overall to earth-ness is refreshing. Her Midwestern drawl is adorable and her personality is so relatable you feel like you’re hanging out with an old friend when watching her videos. Her love for her family is apparent and it’s amazing to see how her family has grown alongside her channel. Overall, I love her and love that she achieved this dream!

Aside from how awesome the creator is, the product is fantastic and would be welcome in any makeup lover’s collection.

The Needs Palette by Emily Noel X Makeup Revolution. $20 at Ulta.

Emily came out with two palettes, The Wants and The Needs. The Wants is a huge palette with enough shades to cover almost any type of look you’d like to achieve, from simply everyday looks to glam looks for nights out, and everything in between. The Needs is a palette for absolute essentials that you could travel with and even carry around in your purse for daily use.

I had to get the Needs Palette as soon as I saw reviews go up. It has so many delicious shades for fall as well as amazing everyday shades I know I’ll be getting a lot of use out of. I’ve created countless glam looks and work looks already.

I began by using the colors Hobby and Midwest in the crease. I then deepened it with the gorgeous deep burgundy Cheer. I intensified the outer corners with the plummy purple Family, one of my favorite shades in the palette. Lastly I patted Eve Rose on the inner half of the eye and blended it into Pizzazz on the middle.

This has quickly become one of my fav palettes for fall! This is my first palette from Makeup Revolution but I’ve heard nothing but great things about the brand and now I want to try their foundation, concealer, and other eyeshadow palettes. I got a free palette, Fierce as Fire with my purchase which was a nice perk as I loved the blush and bronzer in there.

Overall most of the shades in The Wants palette were pigmented, some more than others, but all were super blendable and creamy. Loved it overall and I’m so happy about how huge the mirror as it’s so useful and such great quality.

Thanks so much for reading! Love you all!

The Zodiac Palette by Colourpop X Kathleen Lights Palette Review +

Astrology, bblogger, beauty, ColourPop, Cosmetics, eyeshadow, inspo, Makeup, Makeup Review, palette, review, Uncategorized

As soon as I found out Kathleen Lights was doing a Zodiac Collection with Colourpop I pretty much did a backflip. I’ve been interested in astrology since I was 12 and have always liked everything astronomy and space related. I’m as Aquarius as you can get. You might say I’m Aquarius AF which is why I’ve been so interested in the astrology to begin with. I’ve observed others and found so many instances like this as well.

Beauty guru Kathleen Lights is obsessed with astrology too and the collaboration with Colourpop was a no brainer. It was one of the most requested palettes ever and I’m here for it. In fact, I’m absolutely in love with the palette and collection.

I have only gotten the palette, only because I’m on a no makeup buy and really don’t need any more makeup as my makeup drawers and vanity are clogged enough as it is.

I bought the pallette as soon as it dropped as I’d never forgive myself for not doing so. I knew I’d love it even before I touched it.

My favorite shades so far are The Gemini and The Pisces though I love them all.

The quality and blendability of the mattes are similar to those in other Colourpop palettes, in other words, amazing for the price of $18. The shimmers are absolutely gorgeous with some being satiny while a few being more pigmented and brilliant than others. In my opinion, those are The Gemini and The Pisces though they’re all gorgeous.

As you’ve probably seen allover Instagram, the packaging is absolutely stunning. I’m all for it as you know, I’m obsessed with space and constellations. It’s unlike anything Colourpop or any Youtuber in collaboration with Colourpop had released before.

I’m most drawn to the blue and purple family and the shimmers, though there’s something for everyone. Kathleen mentioned how well this palette pairs with the Dream St. Palette and that’s absolutely true. I created the look above with solely the Zodiac Palette, while I used both Dream St. and Zodiac for the one below.

For this look, I primed my eyes with Kokie concealer, used The Virgo and The Taurus in the crease, The Gemini on the inner half of the eye, and The Pisces on the outer half. I intensified the crease and outer corner with The Capricorn and Water Bearer from Dream St. I then lined my lower lash line with The Capricorn and Water Bearer and popped The Pisces into the inner corner and inner half of the lower lash line.

All of the matte shades in Dream St. pair beautifully with the shades in The Zodiac Palette. I’m thinking of doing a fiery look with The Leo and The Aries and the matte red in Dream St. next. The possibilities are endless.

For the look above I also primed my lids with the Kokie concealer. I then used The Sagittarius in the crease. I placed The Aquarius all over the lid and blended it into the crease and into Sagittarius to create a gradient effect.

I highlighted my brow bone with The Cancer and also placed it in the inner corner and on the inner half of my lid. I lined the inner half of my lower lash line with The Pisces and the outer half with The Aquarius and The Capricorn. So far this is my favorite look I’ve created with this palette. I can’t wait to try it with glitter eyeliner.

So far this palette is everything I wanted in a zodiac palette. Regarding Wet n Wild and BH Cosmetics’ release of a zodiac collection around the same time, I think it’s just serendipity and no malice was intended by any brand. Obviously, no collection is extremely similar to another in this case and honestly, it’s clear how much effort Kathleen put into hers, probably because of her sincere love of astrology. Being an astrology junkie, I totally get it. I love both Wet n Wild and BH Cosmetics dearly so I’ll probably end up buying those too.

What did you think about the palette? I heard some people had trouble with fallout, and while I had some, this really doesn’t bother me as I do eyes first. Love it overall!

Thanks for reading

July Boxycharm Review and Christmas in July Glam Bronze Tutorial

bblogger, beauty, boxycharm, Makeup, Makeup Review, Tutorial

Somehow I came up with a holiday look with my Boxycharm this month and I can’t say I’m mad about it. As you all know by now, I’m a fall and winter kinda girl and warm tones make me feel warm and fuzzy inside, like a cup of hot chocolate on a wintry day.

I can’t decide if I like the look I came up with better with an orangey rust lip or bright true red lip but I’ll be wearing both a ton for sure in the coming months.

Crown Brushes’ Fuego Eyeshadow Palette

The highlight of most people’s Boxycharm this month was most likely the Crown Brushes Fuego eyeshadow palette. It got five stars by reviewers on Boxycharm’s website and like many warm toned eyeshadow palettes, it’s impossible to not like. Fuego is an apt name as the shades are pure fire, my favorite being the bronzy red metallic I used all over my lid.

Let’s take a look at how all of the products performed:

Crown Brushes Fuego Eyeshadow Palette

Crown Brushes Fuego Eyeshadow Palette. $29.99

Yes I have tons of similar shadows in my makeup collection, and I’m sure you can find one or two, but considering the retail price is $29.99 and the fact that you’re getting this and three other full size products for & 20, I’m pretty happy with it. The quality of the shadows is excellent and the metallic shades are the most stunning out of the palette. The pigmentation is intense and they are all very blendable. I kind of wish there was a pop of color in the palette but other than that, I can’t complain.

Note Cosmetics Luminous Silk Compact Blusher

As you probably know by now, peachy blushes are so my thing so I was pretty pleased with this one. It’s creamy and so pretty for the summer with dewy skin. You get a pretty big pan size so it’s easy to dip your brush into it and a good amount of product. This retails for $11.99, so again, it’s a steal. Love it.

Dr. Brandt No More Baggage Eye De-Puffing Gel

I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews about Dr. Brandt Skincare. I don’t really need de puffing except for when I don’t catch enough Zs or when I’m super stressed. I tried this under makeup and over moisturizer and I liked how hydrated it made my under eyes feel. The only thing I will say that you should be careful with is warm it up on your hand a bit and don’t rub it or rub concealer in over it unless it’s completely melted into the skin. I tried that and it crumpled into pieces like some primers do. It retails for $42 so I’m stroked to keep trying it and put its claims to the test;

Within minutes, this advanced formula provides a tightening effect and smooths the under-eye contour to visibly reduce the appearance of under-eye bags and dark circles for an immediately brighter, well-rested look. It also works over time to renew the under-eye area for a consistently smooth and improved appearance.”

Hmm, I’m down for that.

Wander Beauty Un lashed Volume and Curl Mascara

Though I low key wanted the Tarte primer other Boxycharmers got, I wasn’t too disappointed with this. I’m not much of a fan of mascara in general, as I only wear it with glam looks, this one gave my lashes just enough volume for everyday but not much length. It’s perfect to throw in your bag for everyday looks.

Love you guys!

Sending you love + light 🌟💕

What did you get in your Boxycharm? Did you love it, hate it, or is eh
