Hello! I'm Maggie and my mind is usually on the moon, daydreaming. This website is my illustration portfolio and blog. I cease creating characters and drawings as soon as I could hold a crayon. I draw what makes me happy and I hope it brings you a little joy too 😊🌙💕 XO, Maggie in the Moon
I’m eternally in love with vintage and always have been. Being that it’s swimsuit season, I bring you a little fashion illustration illustrating my love of vintage/retro bathing suits. I really like the old school approach to sexiness and femininity in addition to the fashion. Also, I just love the freedom and serenity of standing in the ocean and being at the beach.
Happy swimsuit season! Remember loves, the objective is not perfection. 😊❤👙🌊💧🌞🎨
Believe it or not, summer is not my favorite season. My favorite is actually the one with fiery colored leaves, crisp mornings, and the one in which pumpkin spice lattes pervade everyone’s vocabulary; yes fall! So I am more than excited about what Fall 2016 has to offer.
In the mean time, I’m still into midi skirts, ankle strap sandals, and Marc Jacobs and Dolce and Gabbana-inspired daisy appliques. What’s your favorite season?
PS: I’m really feeling down about Orlando and the horrific crime that went down there. All I can say is more live, less hate. Please.
So all of the pretty pictures on Pinterest (yes I have a wedding board) and Instagram got me inspired to do a wedding season themed fashion illustration. I may do more because there are just so many places you can go with this theme (glam bride, romantic bride classic bride, etc.). Here I did a natural bride. Pretty, happy and herself.
I love drawing and painting with paper and real art tools but its so hard to get a good picture of the illustrations with my phone camera. Instagram has great tools that help bring photos closer to what my ilustrations actually look like. I used th above. The downside is Instagram cuts off pieces of photos. Still, my love affair with Instagram is far from over! Here’s the whole drawing with no white balance adjustment:
I was inspired to paint again with real paper and watercolors after receiving a whole new stash of art materials from a very kind donor. While walking this week, due to my car being in the auto shop, I saw the prettiest cactus flower. Also, as I mentioned before, I’m REALLY into plants on pink. On a side note, Lyft is pretty awesome too.
I got the idea for the purse I drew from Michael Kors’ latest denim creations and the shape of his more popular purses. I absolutely adore Missoni with all my heart and their prints and woven fabrics were the inspiration for the jumpsuit I drew. Instagram has been heavily populated by an endless supply of fashion bloggers, and while I’m happy to have found all sorts of interesting fashion girls and some guys to follow, I’m really happy there’s a plus size Instagrammer movement going on. I’m happy women are frowning upon body shaming outspokenly. That’s why I drew a curvy lady! Who says fashion is only for skinny women anyway?
With peace and love,
PS: Please follow me on Instagram to see what else I’m up to: @maggiesinthemoon
If you haven’t tuned into the @plantsonpink phenomenom on Instagram, I highly suggest you do right now. Your time will not be wasted and you’ll be visually entertained. The combination of a pink background and green plants is somehow addictive. Here’s my take on it above! As you may have noticed in my previous recent posts, my latest style obsessions include midi skirts and mules. What are yours?
I know it’s not National Donut Day anymore (It was Fri. in case you live under a rock which is totally cool) but let’s face it, every day is donut day in the US. Here is the drawing I made and put up insta & twitter that day. I’ve been having some glitchy problems lately with WordPress, which is why I didnt post it then, but it’s working right now so I’m keeping my fingers & toes crossed.
Anyway, about donuts, I have fond memories of taking a walk down the street with my Mom as a young kid for the sole purpose of getting a donut. Donuts were always brought to class on a special occasion like someone’s birthday as a kid too. Later, as a teenager I’d walk down a block before or after school and get donuts. In college, I occasionally treated myself to a donut and coffee. I’ve treated myself to coffee every day since then. 😉 As you can see I have a lot of happy memories connected to donuts. Hope you got your free one and have a great day.
I have a confession to make. Lately I’ve become such an Instagram addict. For a visual person/artist with a smartphone & visual ADD, it’s kind of impossible not to be one. This illustration is inspired by all the lovely street style posts during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week as well as my latest shoe obsessions, by Oscar Tiye and Gucci. See below. 😍😍
There’s really nothing like them. 👠
The shape of the shoe I drew was inspired by this Gucci one.
So ever since I was a mere stripling I’ve been fascinated by the night sky, and specifically constellations, space travel, what’s out there; all that good stuff. In 2nd grade, my favorite teacher of all time, Dr. O introduced us to the Big Dipper & Little Dipper, and my fascination commenced. (Dr. O if you’re out there, I just want to say thank you for everything).
In middle school and high school I became obsessed with astrology. I quickly learned that my sign, Aquarius, acutely & accurately described me. The likeness was so real it was freaky. I’m still obsessed with observing the stars and astronomical events. I guess that somewhat explains my blog’s title. Plus, I’ve always been attracted to the idea of entering another universe and what would be there. Mine would be filled with coffee, shoes, clothes, green tea lattes, nuts, art, music, and other wonderful things. 😉🎵🌌🌛🌚🌒
The idea for this illustration came to me all of a sudden, out of the blue, (haha) like most things do. The photos all over social media of Cannes have me lusting for gowns, cocktails, & the French Riviera as per usual. Ah, to be rich and have a disposable income. Anyways, a girl can dream right?
I’m currently using the app ArtFlow Studio and loving it so far other than the fact that you can’t undo beyond a certain point if you don’t pay for the unlimited version, but I get it, all can’t be free and app makers have to make money too. I’m guessing the better art apps probably come at a price.
